Even with the progress of the #MeToo movement over the last year, the tech industry still remains rampant with sexual harassment claims. As of a survey done in November 2018, one-third of women in the tech industry say they have received or witnessed unwelcome physical contact in the last year. Over the last five years, that number rose to nearly half of all women.
The tech industry, which has been attempting to increase the number of women in its fields, must combat workplace sexual harassment and provide inclusive cultures for women. There is still much more that can be done to improve the quality of the workplace for women in tech. Companies will have to step up and do more than what the bare minimum of the law requires to provide safe, inclusive workplaces for all.
