Former Marriott Exec Files Race Discrimination Lawsuit

A former Marriott executive has filed a race discrimination claim against the hotel chain. In the lawsuit, which was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, the former employee alleges he was the victim of race discrimination and harassment, as well as retaliation for opposing forbidden practices.

He alleges that he was asked to get up and dance during meetings to artists such as Michael Jackson. The former employee alleges at first he did, because he was new and did not want to make waves, but over time he told his colleagues no. He also alleges a co-worker posted a photo of Buckwheat, a character on Little Rascals, and asked the sales team “who do you guys think this is?” The employee filing suit was the only black employee on the sales team.
