Colorado State Senator Retires Amidst Sexual Harassment Allegations

A Colorado State Senator accused of sexual harassment has retired from office. Senator Randy Baumgartner was accused of groping a former legislative aide in 2016. An independent investigation found the allegations to be credible.

Accusations also arose that Baumgartner created a hostile work environment. The Senate stripped him of several committee posts following these allegations.

Baumgartner retired from the state senate citing a need for more time with family. He did not address the sexual harassment allegations or investigations at that time.

The #MeToo movement has sparked many victims of sexual harassment to speak out against their harassers.
